Learn the basics of making maple syrup so that you can confidently produce this traditional Canadian treat. From a simple setup for the hobbyist, to those interested in more extensive production, this workshop will help you through the entire process.  

This workshop covers: 

  • A brief history of maple syrup making. 
  • Simple biology of the of Sugar Maple Tree. 
  • Identifying Sugar Maple Trees. 
  • Basic requirements for getting started. 
  • Tapping Trees (bucket and tube systems). 
  • Evaluating and selecting specialized equipment, from evaporators to extractors, pumps, filtration, and concentrators. 
  • Successfully boiling sap to produce syrup, maple sugar, and taffy. 
  • Bottling and canning. 
  • Classification of syrup. 
  • Diversified Maple Syrup Products. 
  • Ensuring the health of the Sugar Bush.

Your registration will be official when payment has been received. Refund / Withdraw Policy  

Participants wishing to withdraw must contact Student Services. 

  1. Participants wishing to withdraw before the second scheduled class: partial refund ($30.00 administration fee will apply). 
  2. Participants wishing to withdraw after the second scheduled class: no refund. 
  3. Any course/workshop cancelled by the College: full refund to participants.
